The Scales of Justice Mayim Achronim was influnced by the story in the Talmud
(Chulin 105a). Its lines are post-modernistic in style. The central triangle serves
as a water holder, which can be filled by removing the flat cover with its ringshaped
handle. An inner lip was designed to prevent water from spilling during its
use. A set of inner ducts carry the water to the two sides of the scales. The water
is released in a delicate trickle, making it easy to wash the tips of the fingers.
The used water is filtered under the dome. This action of concealing the impure
water allows the Mayim Achronim to remain on the table during the reciting of
the Grace after Meals. Due to an internal balance mechanism, the scales always
remain level.
Each work is signed and numbered by the artist and is available in a limited
edition.
